While mothers were being spoilt with lunch out and homemade cards last week on Mother's Day, I got the lucky opportunity to photograph my dear friend's daughter's fairy tale 5th birthday party at Meadway sports centre. Yes I got the presents and the beautiful homemade cards from my kids which I adore and appreciate.
However, while photo documenting the party I got the chance to witness my beautiful daughter have fun with her friends. It was heart warming seeing how she is growing up into a funny, smart, cheeky young lady and most importantly how shes surrounded by laughter and good friends who shes known all her life.
This party was a lovely couple of hours of giggles, fairy wings and it included a bouncy castle, enough said! It was not just fun for the children, who had a blast by the way, but the parents did too. Some of the mums and one dad took the plunge and had a bounce...and the kids took full advantage of it. Its.... 'cuddle time' aka 'squash the parent' time!
The beautiful birthday girl had so much fun while wearing her fairy outfit waving her wand around with grace and pulling off the tiara with little effort. I called her the 'fairy princess' but was quickly corrected by the birthday girl herself pulling a serious face saying "Sarah, I am a fairy queen!" Oh apologies, long bestow the queen, we shall bow to her cuteness and ever growing greatness.
Happy belated birthday Fairy Queen Liliana!
I must say there was another adorable kid born on the same day... my oldest friend's son Nate. Happy Belated Birthday Nate, I hope you had a great party across town with your school friends and parents. Here's hoping you had just as a great time as Liliana clearly had. What a great way to celebrate Mother's Day.
Happy Belated Mother's Day to all the mums out there. Some times when it gets too tough or you just need to pick yourself up with a laugh, well, do yourself a favour and put YOU first. Just for a brief moment, be a kid again and yes that means dropping the chores and your work and take a break. Clear your mind of stress, grab a friend by the hand and bounce it out. I know we all need that once in a while. I sure do.
